|About the Ontario Dual Sport Club||
Welcome to ODSC, the Ontario Dual Sport Club. The purpose of the club is to provide a place where riders interested in Dual Sport motorcycling can meet with others having similar interests. We are an Internet-based club and, although we are centered on Toronto, we have no physical clubhouse or facilities, so we conduct our business from this website. Visit us regularly to check out Upcoming Events, join a discussion on the Forum, use the Classifieds Ads, or browse through the many other informative pages.
Our main club activity is riding. Generally there will be one or more members riding every weekend from Spring through Fall, some even riding year-round. Most of these rides are announced via the Mailing List a few days before they occur. Popular recurring rides, where a larger attendance is expected, will be planned weeks, or even months, ahead. We find that a typical ride will be attended by those from the immediate general area – our members tend to be spread out from London, in the west, to Bowmanville in the east and to Barrie in the north - so a local ride may be 3-6 riders, whereas a more important event, like the Ride For Sight may have 25 or so members and many more from the general public. Incidentally, the RFS is the only club ride where non-members are invited to attend – in general, rides organized via our mailing list are for Members only. However we do allow non-members to attend one club ride before deciding to join.
Many club rides are mainly off-road, with road sections to interconnect the off-road parts. A street-plated motorcycle is mandatory on club rides, and, if trails are part of the route, it is strongly recommended that you fit street-legal (DOT) knobby tires. The typical areas where we have trail rides are St Williams Forest/Turkey Point near Port Dover, in the west, Ganaraska Forest and Northumberland Forest near Coburg, in the east, and Orangeville to Simcoe County Forests in the North.
Some members prefer riding back roads rather than trails. Good back road riding areas are all along the Niagara Escarpment/Bruce Trail route i.e. Hamilton – Georgetown – Orangeville – Creemore – Collingwood areas. Although more distant, the Bancroft area probably has the best dual sport bike roads in Ontario.
The Kawasaki Trail Ride & Dual Sport Series is popular with our members. Events are held throughout the season and every event will have some ODSC riders there. Check out www.kawtrailride.com for dates and locations.
The skill level of our members varies from total beginner to fast and advanced, so everyone is welcome to join and attend club rides.
